LIFE IS A MOUNTAIN
The idea of this series was created during my residency trip in spring 2023, when I worked in Budapest for a month at the Valosag residence. The Danube flows through the city, dividing it into two different parts. After spending about three weeks on the flat Pest side, I crossed the river to the Buda side and climbed Gellert Hill. The day was magnificent and there was something magical in the air that is difficult to describe. On the mountain, many things I had been thinking about became clear to me. When I returned home, my first work was to make a mountain. I made it out of clay. I made a second, a third. The mountain wrote and created itself. I began to reflect on the theme of the mountain. There are endless references to religion and history. People have escaped to the mountains, built castles, searched for divinity, wisdom and enlightenment. The mountain is strength, the mountain is a great dream and challenge, sometimes unattainable. The mountain is a fear-sized lump in the chest. The mountain is life itself. The working process took me away, on a journey to the mountain.
